Marcy Brandis

I live in Manhattan with my husband, Phil, our daughter Morgan, and our 2-year-old Boxer dog, Nash (yes, absolutely named after one of our favorite places, Nashville). Morgan attends LCA. You can find her smiling in the Fourth-Grade class. I have my bachelor’s degree in Marketing and over the years have worked in an array of industries and environments, with this journey being my most favorite and exciting one yet to come.

As a family, our favorite thing to do is escape Illinois and enjoy Michigan with our extended family. Spontaneous adventures have our name written all over them, while we also embrace downtime every chance we get. My path with faith is one I say is like a gravel road to a dirt road to blacktop, and at times loops back again. Nothing about it or us is perfect, but that is what makes this journey real and a true blessing. Knowing that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to die for us, for our sins, and through His grace and having faith saves us- this gives us the opportunity to write an amazing story no matter which “road” we are on. He is before us, beside us, behind us, and most importantly- within us.

My favorite Bible story is the story of Daniel and the lion’s den. While he lived his life faithful to God, others were jealous and wanted harm done unto him. The King was tricked by the officials and Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, but he was saved by God’s angel. His faith protected him and the lions knew of his innocence. Can you imagine lions at your side, in your defense?

Perhaps we have felt this along the journey that brought us to this amazing place, our LCA, our GRACE.

My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13: “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

With that, I believe in this journey and in each of us to help the children grow and continue to build their faith-based compass that will lead and protect them in life. May they each feel the strength from the Lord to change the world, to be good, do good, see good.
